How To Fix QuickBooks Error 3371 Status Code 11118

Most of the times you get this error when you do a system restore, or move your operating system files to a new PC or a new hard drive. It leads one to believe that there is some kind of hash or signature on the specific file causing the frustration and most of the time that file is named “Entitlement” file which manages the phone-home registration process of QuickBooks. The file in question is the “Entitlement DataStore.ecml” file.

In order to fix QuickBooks error 3371, rename the corrupted file and it might fix the error for you but now you will again have to get registered with Intuit.

In case, if you are using Wndows XP as your operating system, you need to follow the given steps to get rid of this error

  • Click on Start and choose Run
  • Type the Command as shown below

C:Documents and SettingsAllUsersApplicationDataIntuitEntitlement Clientv2 

  • Hit OK
  • Delete (or preferably, rename) the “Entitlement DataStore.ecml” file.

For the remote users, you find  the “C:Documents and SettingsAllUsersApplicationDataIntuitEntitlement Client v*” folder and rename or delete the corrupted file.

For the Windows 7 users, go to: C:ProgramDataIntuitEntitlementClientv* (where ‘*’ is a number). Rename the Corrupted  file. Quick Books will create a new one when you start the application.

[Note that the “ProgramData” folder may be hidden in which case you can unhide it like this:

  • Double click on “Computer”, Click on “Organize | Folder and search options | View,  and select “Show hidden files, folders…”]

Restart QuickBooks and you probably will resolve this error. Remember, you most likely, will get a reminder to register Quick Books within 30 days.
